House of Fraser has been in the department store biz for 150 years, so they must know a thing or two about what people want!  They have 61 stores across the UK and Ireland and pride themselves on offering "luxurious items at affordable prices". 

We applaud their use of ESP (ethical sourcing policy!) to ensure ethical standards throughout their complex supply chain, and their commitment to the environment and animal welfare (full information can be found on the House of Fraser corporate social responsibility page).

Store-Index's House of Fraser review

There's something very sexy about the House of Fraser website - maybe it's the black background, which doesn't always work, but undoubtedly looks good in this instance.  The design is very clean and simple, although the big, flash banner on the homepage when it moves is a little bit dizzying (don't attempt to view the House of Fraser site with a hangover!).  I particularly like the shopping bag (usually shopping cart on other sites) section on the top right hand side of the House of Fraser site - few sites actually make this an integral part of the design, so this is a nice change!

There are 11 top level menu items on the House of Fraser site, each with a pop down sub-directory (except for brands), plus an easy to use search function, making browsing for what you want nice and easy. 

Each of House of Frasers sections and sub sections has a nice "featured brands" area at the bottom of the page, and magazine style images in the main area.  Helpfully, though, the product pages don't have these distractions, and are very clean and clear to read.  House of Fraser makes finding what you want even easier by allowing you to narrow down your options - i.e. if you're looking for handbags, you can narrow down by brand, style and colour, rather than trawling through the whole list for things that fit your bill.

House of Frasers range of products is great and features some of our favourite brands; their prices are very competitive and we've always received great service and speedy delivery - standard delivery is usually £4, but at the moment it's completely FREE on all orders, so now is a good time to grab a House of Fraser bargain!
